Welded Steel pipes

Overview of Welded Steel Pipe

Welded steel pipe is bent round, square shape with a steel or steel plate and then welded into the other, the surface of the pipe joints. Welded steel pipe is used in blank or strip.

Types by Weld Shape

According to weld shape, welded steel pipe can be divided into straight welded pipe and spiral welded pipe.

  • Straight welded pipe: Simple production process, high efficiency, low cost, rapid development.
  • Spiral welded pipe: Higher longitudinal strength. Allows production of large diameter pipe from narrow billets, or different diameters from same width billet. However, weld length is 30%–100% longer than straight pipes, and production rate is lower.

Therefore, smaller diameter pipes are typically straight seam welded, while larger diameter pipes are spiral welded.
